You can go there from central Fukuoka in about 30 minutes by train. It is a very nice, beautiful, and calm side trip to do when visiting Fukuoka. Half a day is more thank enough if you don't want to stroll around the city itself. Visiting the shrine is totally free, and the place is wonderful. The whole plum grove is impressive.

Amazing experience to walk through the temple and stroll through the shops outside. Would recommend bringing an umbrella for shades and put on some sunscreen on a sunny day! Otherwise it’s raining so an umbrella is always a great choice. Bring some coins to pray and make some wishes outside the flower pond and inside the temple. Lucky charms were 1,500 yen and if you want to make a wish, they are available for 6,000 yen but not sure how it works 🫥 there is also a museum for a small fee of 500 yen that shows some modern collaboration of artists. Interesting for a half day tour - get a guide to get a full experience and be aware of mosquitoes!

One of the oldest shrine at Fukuoka. Located in quite a place where everything is just enrich the shrine. Street in front of the shrine has a lot of store. Mainly selling souvenir (quite expensive), umegaemochi (it seems like roast mochi with plum flavor).

it was not hard to reach here. just ride train from fukuoka. the shrine is not far from the train station and there are many shops along the way. the area of the shrine itself is very beautiful. we have lovely moments here. although it was crowded but still we have a peaceful vibrate from this place. maybe because of the lake and beautiful surrounding. it seems the original shrine is currently under renovation.

Dazaifu in Fukuoka is a charming blend of history and natural beauty. The highlight is the Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine, dedicated to the deity of learning, which features stunning architecture and serene gardens. Visitors can stroll through picturesque paths lined with cherry blossoms and traditional shops offering local delicacies like umegae mochi. The atmosphere is tranquil and spiritual, making it an ideal spot for both reflection and exploration. The nearby Kyushu National Museum adds a cultural touch, showcasing the region's history. Overall, Dazaifu is a must-visit for anyone looking to experience Japan's rich heritage and serene landscapes.
