I felt that the American Village was a vibrant mini "city" that offers a unique blend of American and Okinawan culture. With its retro American-style architecture, Ferris wheel, and wide variety of shops, restaurants, and entertainment options, it felt that there was a mini slice of the U.S. in the heart of Okinawa. The atmosphere was energetic, and there's something for everyone, from shopping and dining to enjoying live music and the beach nearby. It grew especially more charming in the evening when the area lights up, creating a bit of a festive vibe. While it can be a bit touristy, the American Village provides a fun experience that's perfect for those looking to explore a different side of Okinawa. I strongly recommend bringing an umbrella as a good portion of the American Village is not sheltered and going in between the clusters of shops require some walking under open air. Enjoy!

Super cute place. I was at first resistant to visit it but was a great surprise. The sunset is beautiful from there. And the village has a nice beach vibe. Lots of restaurants and shops so you can walk for a while before/after dinner. Public transportation to/from is a bit challenging. From Naha city center took us 30 minutes, around 4400 yens.

This is one of our favorite spots. We like to come down on the weekend to see the fireworks at the boardwalk. 🎇 There’s a lot to see on the weekends. Other than the small stores and restaurants there will sometimes be people performing. On different occasions I have seen dancing, bands, and a few times some locals rapping. Often the performers are local people. I like the energy. The only negative I have is sometimes we get stopped to get prayed over. Not to sure if it’s a local religion or not.

very unique village. It's like you're in America. There are a lot of vintage items for sale, such as clothes and accessories. The atmosphere is good, there are many photo spots, and there are many restaurants.

Chatan is a vibrant coastal town in Okinawa, perfect for those seeking a mix of relaxation and excitement. The town boasts a lively atmosphere with its popular American Village, featuring a variety of shops, restaurants, and entertainment options. The waterfront offers beautiful views and pleasant strolls, and the nearby beaches are ideal for sunbathing and water activities. Chatan’s blend of modern amenities and coastal charm makes it a fantastic destination for both tourists and locals.
