I'm sure you all know about the various canals, but here in Toyama there are also places where you can have a wonderful canal experience. Because the water surface height of the upstream river and the sea are different (approximately 1.5-2 meters), you can still experience the functions of this canal on a sightseeing boat! The cruise will last approximately 1 hour. On board the ship, volunteers will tell you about the history of the canal's construction and the surrounding area, which is very educational.

I used it during the long holidays. I reserved tickets online in advance. As expected, the place was fully booked on that day. I took the tram to Iwase Canal Hall and then took the water line to Kansui Park.

The elderly people guided us properly and operated the boat, and we learned a lot about Toyama's history and lifestyle. I was also able to experience the ``water elevator'' for the first time. It was a canal water line that I wanted to continue to operate forever.

The price of 1,700 yen including a guide and return tram ticket is amazing. Cherry blossoms were blooming on both sides of the canal, making for a nice cherry blossom viewing experience. The water elevator at Nakajima Lock is also exciting. The journey from Iwase is 70 minutes, which is slightly longer than the journey from Kansui Park. If you are coming by car, we definitely recommend starting from Iwase rather than fighting for the parking lot at Kansui Park or parking at the paid parking lot at the Prefectural Museum of Art.

I boarded the water line from this platform. Since I had some time before boarding, I rented a bicycle here and went for a walk around the nearby post town of Iwase. It was very good.
