Haguro Kodo

The correct branch in the photo is on the left. When I went up to the right, I went on a forest road or something for a while and ended up in mud, puddles, and a dead end. Next time I'll go left.

It is a comfortable hiking course that is just over 3km one way and has an elevation difference of about 300m. Although there are some confusing branching points along the way, the trail is well-maintained and allows you to enjoy the peaceful forest scenery as you aim for Mt. Haguro.

I climbed from Hachiko village. There are old road signs along the road, and you can park several cars. Unlike the stairs, you'll be climbing a mountain, so you'll need some equipment, even if it's light, and there are bears.

I have visited it several times as a small mountain climber. My favorite road. Surrounded by trees and listening to the occasional murmur of the river, you can work up a sweat and feel comfortable. This is the path that Matsuo Basho would have walked in ancient times. Unfortunately, the last third was covered with grass and I didn't have the courage to walk, so I gave up on the summit😞❗
