Even though it is said to be the ``birthplace of Hagakure,'' there are no particular remains of the hermitage, only a memorial monument. When you think about it, the tweets of an old man from the countryside of Kyushu (although it's not that great) can be read all over the world for hundreds of years. Also, although it has nothing to do with Hagakure, if you follow the path behind the monument, you will find an ancient tomb. The parking lot is located along the road in front.

Birthplace of Hagakure I think it is a historically important place, but although it feels like it was developed in the past as a tourist facility, it has not been maintained and does not give a good impression as a tourist destination. This time I stopped by while walking, so I didn't know where the parking lot was. No parking lot was found nearby. I think it would be a good idea to improve it a little more and promote it well so that it becomes a tourist resource for Saga.

This is the site of Choyoken, where Tsunetomo Yamamoto, the famous Hagakure dictator who wrote, ``Bushido is about dying and finding something,'' lived after becoming a priest. It stands quietly in a very secluded place. The stone monument was illuminated by the light leaking from the surrounding trees, giving it a majestic appearance, combined with the quiet, subdued atmosphere of the area. I don't know why, but I feel like I'm growing taller. What was my mind like on the days when I spent the rest of my life here pondering how a samurai should live? How am I living my life now? Am I not living my life for myself? It's a place that makes me think about it all of a sudden. If you come by car, it would be a good idea to park at the nearby Kinryu Park. From there, go through the tunnel and turn left in front of the high school to reach it. (2017/10)

It is both a monument and a place where Tsunetomo Yamamoto, the author of Hagakure, was famous for his writings, famous for the line, ``Bushido is about dying and finding something.'' It has a solemn atmosphere and reminds us of the importance of living in the moment.

Most people's interpretation of ``Bushido is about dying and finding something'' is wrong. Tsunetomo Yamamoto dictated ``Hagakure,'' and Jinki Tashiro wrote it down. It also influenced Yukio Mishima. There's nothing left here, but it's very moving to think that it was born here.
