My friend and I are university students, so tickets were 1000 yen for each of us - more than worth it for the whole experience! There's a lot of hiking both to the museum itself and within: I'm a couch potato but my friend is a hiking maniac, but we both managed to get it done thanks to the various resting spots they had throughout the area. Some of them even had paper fans and cushions for you sit on. The only minor complain I have is the lack of vending machines except for one resting area near the starting point and the entrance, so bring plenty of water with you or buy them when you're buying tickets. There's no right route, we basically just stumbled around but managed to see every building. They're well-connected to each other. Overall a very worthwhile experience!

Interesting outdoor museum where you can learn about the history and culture of the Shikoku area, including arts, traditional industries, and architecture. The area is not small but not too big so walking around feels like a comfortable little hike. The natural environment and traditional buildings bring you back to the past.

Nice outdoor museum. Very tasteful display of historical houses from Shikoku. Interesting curation and story-telling. The gardens are amazing by themselves. You can really be able to observe how the Japanese historically lived, including how they made paper, sugar, and soy sauce. There are also contemporary artworks, as part of the setouchi trienalle, and a modern museum building by Tadao Ando. I highly suggest you go here when visiting Takamatsu. There is also a cafe and a restuarant that serves udon (a must-try when visiting Kagawa).

The Mog Champ sends his regards. After having lunch I decided to come here to Shikoku Village, an open-air museum as described which was interesting because it seemed like a small park at the same time! It must not get a lot of visitors during a rainy day since it's an open area but fortunately for me it was just cloudy. Lots of different history I learned here and it felt nice walking through the natural setup of things as well. It's a bit of a distance to get to by train and walking but nothing too complicated, if you're into nature and museums this would be perfect for you. Thanks for the experience Shikoku Village! Mogliest Regards, Your Mog Champ

I had so much fun in this open air museum. Going up and down stairs, crossing a vine bridge and searching for the places in the map was incredibly fun to me! It might be difficult and tiring for older people but I would still recommend it.
