It’s an interesting place with historical context. We arrived straight after getting off the highway so it was a nice spot to unwind after a long journey. 750m seemed short but when walking in semi darkness it felt longer. The art itself was ok, nothing spectacular, the tunnels with different lighting gave the most atmosphere and the final tunnel was a nice photo spot. Overall the cost was fairly high but it was a good experience based on our needs in the moment.

Fabulous place to visit, the fee is ¥1,000 and definitely worth it. The long caves take you to several openings that you can view the outside. They have made it fun and colorful to walk through as well.

Entrance is ¥1000 Walk of about 750m and 3 stops where you can have tunnel view pictures. The gorge view is amazing and during snow the whole area around entrance looks nice. From bus stop it is around 2km walk to the entrance of the tunnel. Make sure to check bus timing well in advance, as there are only few buses that route. Around the picturesque spot of “Tunnel of Light” there might be queue to take the perfect solo pictures and crowd is expected. Snaps of 2024-03-04, a snowy day 🌨️

It is an interesting tunnel created by the National government solely for the view along the Kiyotsu Valley by River Shinano, but illuminated and decorated with Art for the picturesque shots. Too long a walk from either the public bus stop or even its parking areas on a sunny day! You definitely need the reservation to get in for certain Japanese holidays.

Relaxing and enjoyable. We arrived at the gorge entrance before it opened. Only a few other tourists were present who went off at a pace, so we were alone throughout the journey. Which gave us plenty of time to take it in. It's a memorable experience with stunning views of the gorge at a few points along the route, culminating in an amazing view at the end. We simply sat and took it in for a while. It's very atmospheric and occasionally a little eerie. There are some unexpected quirks as you travel down the tunnel. Recommended.
