During Obon week, we took a quick trip to Tsuruga Castle to enjoy the beautiful weather. It was a hot day, but the shade of the trees provided some relief. We also indulged in delicious ice cream to cool down. We enjoyed a leisurely walk around the castle grounds, taking in the fresh air and admiring the lush greenery. The castle itself was impressive, and we snapped a few photos for souvenirs. We considered stopping at the tea house but decided to save it for another time. Overall, it was a pleasant and relaxing afternoon at Tsuruga Castle.

Less crowed than the Osaka castle and organized well. Quick tour. Has 5 floors with a roof top view which is nice. Gift shop downstairs is good as well. Nice cafes nearby. Worth checking out. The history is amazing.

A beautiful castle in Fukushima-Ken that is open to the public for a nominal entrance fee. You will have access to five floors/levels inside the castle main building that is set up like a museum, with various artifacts and boards detailing the history around Tsuruga-jyo and the historically significant individuals entwined with the castle's history. The top level offers a wonderful 360-degree view of the city below. Your entrance ticket also includes a view of the tea house (chaya) located a few hundred meters from the castle, although tea and snacks are a separate cost. Very highly recommended for history buffs and just for the lovely views inside and outside the castle. Highly recommended!

The interior of this castle is not a castle anymore but has been remodeled as a museum. So you won't get an authentic experience if you are looking for that (can recommend Himeji for that). However the museum is simply amazing! Innovative use of projection, authentic old swords of real samurai and a lot of history about the rulers of this area. I enjoyed the whole experience immensely. I have to subtract one star however, because there was not a lot of English information. Basically just a summary sentence, while the Japanese text was much more detailed.

Didn't go into the castle museum because we went after closing time (5pm). But worthwhile to walk around and enjoy the views of the castle from the outside (garden is nice to take a stroll). Not the most recommended tourist attraction but worth a visit.
