Entry Fee 800 yen. Beware inside are quite cold (15°C) and will have water droplet from the ceiling. Although this place is not my priority place to visit, after this tour, I changed my mind and definitely recommend it. Inside is unexpectedly huge, chilling. Sunlight pierced through the gap of the cave is very breathtaking. Also kudos to the lighting design inside, the layout and color illuminated the cave to bring out cavernous atmosphere.

An old quarry that's been converted to a tourist attraction and commercial event space. Temperature is much cooler underground - therefore it gets very busy during hot summer days. Surrounding roads are small so traffic could become VERY congested on weekends. Several old famous Buddhist temples within walking distance that are also worth visiting.

An absolutely amazing place to visit, showcasing what man can do. The sheer size of the mine coupled with the low lighting, gives it an aura that is hard to put into words. You feel like you could bump in the dwarves from LOTR at any moment. I’m not easily impressed, but this place blew my mind. If you’re in the area, definitely visit.

I didn't expect to come here, but my friend's said let's go inside. I was pretty impressed. It was cold, dark and MASSIVE. The size of the caverns are sorely understated by pictures!!! There are a few things there to read. There is a location to take official pictures (there is a fee). Seeing how much was carved out... it was a massive undertaking! Definitey worth a check out if you appreciate these types of historic museums.

Cool museum for seeing historic mining. The large caverns left behind were very interesting to see. The cool temperature of 14 Celsius was a nice break from the summer heat of Japan.
