I visited here in August 2024. The entrance is quite far from the train station, so it requires a decent walk. However, the experience inside is fantastic, with a wide variety of marine animals. The highlight is the dolphin and orca shows, which were definitely worth the ticket price. Other sections featuring different marine life are also well done, with beautiful light shows for feeding the sardines. Overall, it’s a worthwhile visit, and you can also see deep-sea creatures (like fossils). I recommend allowing about 2-3 hours to explore everything.

Nagoya aquarium offers stunning views and an impressive variety of marine life. I highly recommend visiting on a weekday, as the weekend crowds can be overwhelming. If possible, secure your tickets in advance to avoid waiting in the heat, especially during this season.
The aquarium provides a fantastic experience, particularly for seeing magnificent creatures like killer whales, dolphins, and belugas—species that aren’t easily found in many places. The tanks are well designed, allowing for a pleasant and up-close viewing experience. Everything are in Japanese except name of the fishes. Expect to spend around four hours if you want to catch the main shows featuring dolphins, killer whales, and sardines, while a more casual visit without the shows can be wrapped up in about 1.5 hours. The shows are very worthy to watch as they dont over work the dolphins, but also have many activities to keep the audiences engaged.
One downside was the penguin exhibit; it felt a bit cramped as all four species were sharing the same space. On the other hand, the turtles are well taken care of, with access to a shore area that enhances their habitat. Most of the tanks do an admirable job of replicating the natural environments for each species, which adds to the overall educational experience.
The only letdown was the gift shop, which fell short compared to others I've visited, like those in Osaka or Okinawa. Nevertheless, the aquarium is definitely worth a visit for its beautiful exhibits and unique marine life!
Lovely place to visit. U will see lots of students with teacher and family with kids there. Also there is Pearl picking experience workshop for making your own necklace.
It worth the price to know more about marine life with a closer look with dolphins, orca, beluga, jelly fish , penguins…etc.
i suggest go there during weekdays will have lesser visitors

One of Japan’s biggest and best aquariums is the exciting Port Of Nagoya Public Aquarium at Nagoya Port. Home to Orca killer whales, dolphins and Beluga Whales, and featuring marine life from Japan to Antarctica, is laid out in two main pavilions, the North and South Buildings. The Port Of Nagoya Public Aquarium at Nagoya Port is surrounded by many other attractions and places of interest. Don’t be surprised if your whole day is swallowed up by the fishes! 🐋🐡🐬🐙🐡🐳🦑🌊

I came here on the weekend, it was very crowded, I had to queue for a long time. There are many types of tickets, the cheapest one allows you to visit almost every place. There are many types of fish, but I feel the water is not clean. Probably not cleaning day yet, the big tank has a lot of different fish in it, I wonder if it is safe for them. I like the sea worm, it is funny, there is a stuffed animal of it.
