Such a great experience was had with my wife. She doesn’t even really like zoos but she enjoyed it here. A great variety of animals and a nice layout of the whole zoo. Definitely would recommend!

I had a wonderful time during my visit. I observed a variety of magnificent animals. The cleanliness of the facilities was exceptional. Additionally, it was a tranquil and serene environment, allowing for moments of peaceful contemplation while observing the elephants or the water fountain.

Great semi big zoo. Very cosy and nice atmosphere. Very clean (like the rest of Japan) a decent variety of animals. They even had a small playground with a ferriswheel, a train and some other stuff for the small kids. Beautiful surroundings with the mountains and forrest in the back. It was good fun, and very very cheap! I must say, some of the cages and enclosures seem very small, which made some of the animals like the bear just walk in circles 🥺

Kyoto City Zoo is a great place for a little day trip. It’s nothing out of the ordinary but it offers just the perfect amount of experience for the price of around ¥500. There are plenty of little activities and it is very child friendly. The cages and Zoo property overall are all very well maintained.

Very disappointed by my visit here. The enclosures here are very dystopian and sad, many of the animals looks visibly stressed or sad. I wish these animals had better conditions and hope Kyoto can make some necessary changes to provide them given how much they advertise it to the public. I am regretting monetarily supporting this establishment.
