If you’re a tourist, you probably came here because the pond was the inspiration for the lake in Princess Mononoke. The path around the pond is a big circle. The only parts that relevant to the movie is clockwise from the entry. The entry has parking and washrooms. Continue down the road until you get to the “end” of the trail (it spills out to the street in front of the main entry. It will save you from having to walk the entire loop to see the island in the middle of the pond and the trees growing out of the water. Come by car if possible. Transit in this area sucks.

I went in winter and the water level was low but it was quite a sight nonetheless. If you are only interested in the picture below then park at the north carpark and walk towards 水辺の森. Saves you 30 mins of walking.

Nice small natural forest with a hiking path around a lake. There were many big fishes to see in the lake. I wanted to go there to see the pine trees in the water. That area needs a 20 minute walk to see. It was beautiful and interesting to see, but a bit small. The photos here mostly show all of those trees that are there.

Very relaxing walk in the forest followed by some very unique trees in the water.
