I happened to find it on a map while walking around Nobeoka City, so I decided to give it a try. It's a very nice and clear place. There is a long stretch of road where you cannot separate. However, there are some spaces to avoid oncoming cars, so I think you should be fine as long as you memorize the space that seems closest to you. There was a construction site, and dump trucks sometimes passed by, so it was scary only when the oncoming vehicle was a dump truck. (The dump truck backed up to avoid it.) Our destination, Mt. Kamisan, is located a little beyond Ikikogawa Onsen. There was a signboard so it was easy to find and there was a parking space. It takes about 10 minutes to climb the stairs to reach Oiwa. It's quite steep so it might be difficult if you don't wear sneakers. When you climb to the top, you will see a great view and a large rock. This place seemed so refreshing that I felt lighter. There was no offering box, but everyone placed their offerings on the wooden desk. In the old days, the area where the torii gate was located was like a cave. It is also said that for a period of time, a shrine called Ikukogawa Shrine was enshrined at this location. It was a place where both body and mind could be healed due to the beautiful scenery and clean air flowing through it. Thank you for letting me go.

Visited on May 5, 2019. There is no parking lot, and the stay is about 40 minutes. Park in an empty space on the road. It takes about 15 minutes to slowly climb the steep stone steps from the Kamisanyama entrance. The stone steps are not maintained, so please make sure that they are not shaky before climbing. It is a power spot with a huge rock that is bigger than expected and has a sacred feel. There were a lot of wild boar footprints, so be careful. There was also a wasp's nest in the middle of the surface of the boulder. There are no wasps coming and going now, so I think this is last year's nest, but please be careful as there may be nests nearby.

You can see it after walking up the steep mountain surface for about 15 minutes from the entrance of Mt. Kamisan. Although we didn't find any caves, we did see one of the largest rocks in Japan. Since ancient times in Japan, there has been a megalithic religion that worships giant rocks. This is considered to be the most important. In Okinawa, the belief that a trust is obtained from a huge rock called Utaki has taken root as an indigenous belief. In addition, Kamisanyama and the Sunotsu Cave ruins are said to be the origin of the story of Umiyuki Hikoyama Yukihiko, the myth of Japan's nation-building. Yamayuki Yukihiko is said to be Hofurinomikoto in the Nihon Shoki, and the name comes from that, and the river that flows through the mountain surface is said to be the Hofurigawa River. It's a fun time to walk through the mountains while thinking about the story of Japan's nation-building. It's a little far away by car, but if you're interested, please give it a try.

Spectacular view, spectacular view~ Is it a spectacular view➰🎶 😎🚬👍💨 Anyway, it's a steep slope and the footing...💧 It takes about 15 minutes to reach the top. 😅 If you're coming from the Oita area, take Route 207 from Nobeoka City, which takes about 50 minutes, and you should definitely check out the extremely narrow Iwato-Nobeoka Line, which has quite a winding winding path. 🤣

This is a cave in Mt. Kamisan. A cave is created by the collision of giant stones. In a sense, it's like a mountain god protecting the town from megaliths. Mountain worship was also present here.
