Named as “A Peek into Hell” but you are looking at beautiful forests under a very high-peak cliff just as Grand Canyon commands rocks underneath.

A hidden gem where you can challenge yourself on heights. The "View of Hell" is the perfect name for the ledge/cliff that really questions you if you are actually afraid of heights. To get here you will have to take Mt. Nogokiri Ropeway cable care and hike a bit mostly flat paths and steep stairs. When you get to the "View", be careful climbing up and coming down as there are no stair steps but rails for you to hold on to. This is definitely a great hiking day trip as there are other things to look at around here as well such as the buddha statues and a Giant Buddha. Yes, even the weak hearted will be able to accomplish this.

It is easy to visit by ropeway, but if you want to see the Buddha statues, you will need trekking clothes and shoes. There are many stairs to climb and descend. You can enjoy very nice scenery and nature.

Exploring Chiba nearby. Nice for a short trip. You may spot Fuji when the sky is clear. Prepare your leg to explore the mountain and temple.

Going up after it rains was good if you want less people around, but it was very muddy and recommended to take the cable car up and down. Even with the cable car, you will still have a ways to trek through before reaching the peak for your photo op. If you do intend to take the cable car back down, be sure to go early enough to go around and see all the views before they close the shrine gate to get back (4pm). I have to go back another day to see more. Also, try the black vanilla icecream🍦at the top ropeway station, delicious!
