Brewery set in a background of a tranquil forest. Free testing of sake and amazake, detailed explanation of what you are drinking by staff who is patient and kind. A very high-end store selling personal and home goods that are sheer eye candy. Brewery sells mirin, soy sauce as well as rice vinegars, oh and coffee beans too! Visitors can wine and dine there at several locations around the property. Lovely lovely place. Highly recommend to pay a visit!

This place is legendary. Nested at the hills of the forest mountains between rice fields, you are free to roam and explore the buildings bakeries gardens Padi-fields , distilleries breweries and coffee shops . Do not leave until you take a tour of the facilities and Oak barrell room where they age the sochu . Try free sake and even the Niseko gin . I did not leave until I got my hands on the snow aged sake . Masterpiece !

My review is based on a rainy day. The grounds are very nice and lush, the buildings, architecture and landscaping is excellent. Clearly a lot of thought has been put into the experience. Although it felt like we were moving between shopping and eating experiences each room gave a unique feeling and you could get a sense of the locality. We enjoyed the dango, baumkuchen, onigiri and the cola (more like a perilla drink). Since it was rainy, it was difficult to move between zones as they are far apart. I would also add that the minimalist styling with lack of signs became annoying when trying to walk around without getting too wet. Also there was a habit of using gravel and stone paving between paths which isn’t convenient for cart or wheelchair access. As a place clearly interested in design, form should follow function. Despite this, with rain pouring, 2 initially skeptical young children and a dog we all left happy to have visited.

A beautiful environment makes for a good sake. But in different seasons, the opening hours will be different. If you want to visit the snow room, you should pay attention to the time. Since the whole area is really beautiful, it is recommended that you estimate the time to stay for more than one to two hours…. And the food in the restaurant was very fast, and the purchase was completed. We had nothing to eat when we arrived at 4 o'clock in the afternoon. Therefore, it is recommended that if you want to visit the factory and eat here, it is best to arrange the time in the morning, otherwise you will miss some places you want to visit.

Hakkaisan brewery in the mountains of Uonuma. The scenery is breathtaking. They have sake, Shochu, beer breweries and a winery in the close vicinity. It’s like sake theme park for adults. The yukimuro tour is very interesting and highly recommended. There are many restaurants while their food are great each place only serves either meat or none meat. For instance the steak place and only meat dish, my partner wanted eat there but there are nothing for me to eat. I wish the had more options. It’s a great place to visit and I will revisit soon.
