Very tourist-oriented area, not so big. Almost all shops are selling similar items, such as woodcraft and accessories made of deer antler. Nothing too interesting in my opinion. I like the large owl statues at the entrance and at the end of the streets.

Went there on a weekday summer morning and there was no crowd. Small street with shop selling similar handcrafted stuffs.

The Ainu Kotan is home to a theater and culture center. You can see traditional Ainu dance here. There are also Ainu restaurants and shops selling Ainu products.

Most of the shops were closed. Pretty wood crafts available. Some traditional ainu shows at fixed times too

Taken in feb. There are many local ainu styled gift shops here. Lots of wooden crafts. Along the main street there are about 2 or 3 restaurants with ainu and japanese dishes. Futher up the hill there is a museum and theater with afternoon performances. Most shops were closed though, it might be the time of day when we visited.
