A 140m (I think) long limestone cave network with a local Robin Hoodesque ninja legend attached to it. It's actually a rather thrilling place to explore. I did it as of a tour with a local guide and I would highly recommend doing it this way. It is DARK in the caves and with many deep holes and side routes and some tricky sections where you have to climb rickety ladders you really need a heady torch. Waterproof gear also recommend as it is pretty muddy in parts. Not recommended if you are nervous in small spaces. If you decide to go it alone (again, not recommended) be sure to call the administration office number and let them know you are going in. If they don't receive a call to say that you made it out ok, they will dispatch a rescue party. I'm not sure who would bear the expense of this, but it's really not a situation you want to find yourself in! Be sure to look at the image of a map drawn by early explorers of the cave near the entrance.

Definitely worth a visit even if you only spend about 5 minutes and then get spooked by narrow passages and centipedes.

There are houses and people nearby, but once you enter the cave, it's pitch black and quite scary. Inside the cave, there may be water and poor footing, so you need to be careful. A headlamp, rain boots, and work gloves are essential, and your cell phone should be tied to a string so it doesn't fall off. If you drop it, you can't get it back. I don't think it would be suitable for people who are afraid of heights or claustrophobia. It is better not to do it alone. I don't think you will get lost, but there is a risk of falling. Although some maintenance has been done on it, it remains in its natural state. So it's thrilling and fun😀

at the entrance ``If you wish to enter a cave, please apply to the Hidaka Village Board of Education and obtain permission before entering.'' Therefore, this time we only explored the area near the entrance. It's pitch black inside, so much so that it's scary to see with the light from your smartphone. It was in its natural state and we even saw bats. I wanted to join a tour with authentic equipment and a guide.

I haven't been there yet, but I would like to explore the caves sometime. The area that can be explored is about 200 meters. It is said that a ninja lived here a long time ago. That's why Hidaka Village is famous for its ninjas.
