Absolutely the best Onsen water at the local bathhouse. Very small. It cost 300 yen. It's the atmosphere that matter. They have many big hotels with huge bath places but none can match this small local Onsen bathhouse that is run by local municipality. The attendant is very rude. Just ignore him. Buy the ticket from the machine and deposit it in the box. Most hotels there will give you the free ticket to go there. Just ask.

Worn-out hot spring village. The facilities are not so convenient or clean, but you may feel a kind of nostalgia for the past.

It is a representative hot spring town in Miyagi Prefecture that I have been going to for decades. There are drop-in baths, communal baths, and footbaths all over the place, allowing you to enjoy the hot springs. Naruko Onsen Station, which you will arrive at when visiting the hot spring town, is a hot spring station with two footbaths. Using this as your base, you can enjoy the nearby hot springs such as Nakayamadaira Onsen, Onikobe Onsen, Higashinaruko Onsen, and Kawatari Onsen. Naruko Onsen itself has a wide variety of hot springs, but the surrounding hot spring towns also have many unique hot springs, so even those who like touring hot springs are sure to have a lot of fun. Each inn has its own unique cuisine, which you can enjoy just as much as the hot springs. Buffets at large hotels also have a high level of variety and taste, and are a good value. There are many delicious menu items using local ingredients, but what I personally recommend are the rice balls made with Yukimusubi, a rare rice grown in the Naruko area! If you see it, please try it.

Saturday However, it is a quiet hot spring town, I feel a little lonely However, the hot spring water flowing directly from the source at the inn is wonderfully refreshing. The hot water in the public bath is also great. After bathing, we walked around the hot spring town and ate ramen at an izakaya in Plat, which was also delicious. The conversation between the master and the local customer next to the counter of the izakaya was heartbreaking. ``There are really no more people walking around in yukata...'' I sincerely hope that it will return to the vibrant hot spring town of the past. Let's all support each other! Naruko's hot springs are the best!

Naruko Onsen may be the only one where the quality of the spring water differs depending on the inn😱 You can enjoy various spring qualities such as milky white, milky blue, reddish brown, coffee colored, and slippery eel hot water✌ The famous Naruko Gorge is nice, but the lesser-known emerald green Katanuma is amazing👍
