Todoroki Cavern

A very nice cave! We didnt crawl through because it was small and wet. But the nature surrounding the cave was beautiful, despite its dark history.

It's cool if you have nothing to do but I wouldn't trek out here for it. Can't really safely enter the cavern as it's inflitrated with groundwater. Risk of injury and cave in is extremely high. Bats. Still, wild to imagine the fighting that occured here. Bring mosquito repellent and a strong light. Enter at your own risk and legality. I suggest the navy underground hq instead.

A great cavern/cave to explore by youtself, if you're brave enough to enter an area with pure darkness and silence towards the end, or with the family. I'd say that it is kid friendly but to be aware of the river and pool as well as the first step down entering the cave. A torch is a must as a cellphone light does no justice. Wear clothes you don't mind getting dirty and good shoes or boots.

It's fantastic if caving is your thing. I've found a stone-age knife that is now in the prefectural museum. Don't go if there has been any rain in about the last 5 days. It'll be flooded. A strong torch is necessary. There are bats, but unfortunately not the cute kind.

When I visited a storm had recently hit Okinawa so the area was muddy and wet so my group did not enter the cave. The plaque at the site was great as it provided information on the site and I recommend doing a little research before coming, especially on Shikichi Miyagi.
