Hinoyama Park

Visited 29 Mar 2024 Unfortunately the cherry blossoms were late this year, but the view was still nice and the old ropeway was a fun experience.

Took a morning hike up to the top. Beautiful view! I took the main road as far as I was allowed to walk and then took the trail. It’s less than a km to meet the cable car landing, and the path is easy to follow.

A nice little park atop Hinoyama. There is a small gift shop, viewing platform and eating area at the top also. There is a cable car line up to the top, but in all my visits I never used it. The parking is free and offers lots of spots. The view from the top of the mountain is pretty spectacular. You can take in the whole of the Kanmon strait, looking across to Kyushu. You also get great views towards Shimonoseki city and Korea (though obviously Korea isn't visible). There is also what I assume to be an old artillery fort with old bunkers and gun emplacements that you can explore. Quite creepy at night.

Very peaceful experience. The views are very beautiful. The Shimonoseki bridge and sea was beautiful.

I went there today to find out it was a shame that there were no more flowers to see. but I really liked the place. I'm going back in April to see the 🌷
