This is a surprising little gem of a place to see. It is a unique and rare opportunity to get up close to these magnificent animals. While Japan has a controversial history with whaling and hunting cetaceans, this museum did a great job of educating on them. There isn't a lot of western/foreign accommodations (i.e. everything is in Japanese) but you get the gist of things. The outdoor shows demonstrate the animals physical abilities, but it can get hot and not a lot of shade. If you're interested in touching the dolphins - they limit to 30 people and people rush to the opportunity after the show. It was more fun to feed them. All in all, great place to take the family!

Beside all else, this is a very peaceful tranquil town next to the sea with a stunning view of the bay. Seaside town with few tourists! It's rare nowadays..

My wife and I had a great day in the museum, definitely worth a visit don't skip the whale show. Also you can feed whales and dolphins by yourself 300Yen 5 small fishes.

Interesting and informative museum about whales and the relationship of whales and humans. Learn whales in terms of biology and anthropology. See dolphins show, very cute and intelligent animals. There’re whale shows and dolphin feeding and many more activity, too bad i didn’t do them. There’s also a marine aquarium, about other marine animals, but i think it’s a little too small, still a nice place.

This place exceeded our expectations!!! The best place to spend an afternoon❤️ you can get upclose and personal with a lovely beluga and feed him with your hand!!! The history of whale hunting might not be suitable for everyone but the whale and dolphin show will give you a big smile. On top of that, the drive to the museum is scenics too❤️
