A famous 100 castles that are easily accessible from Uwajima City. After enjoying the famous Uwajima sea bream rice, slowly climb up to the castle tower. The view is good, and although the exterior is small, it is a magnificent wooden castle tower with a main pillar. There is also a castle town, so it's nice to walk around. I was lucky because I also included the oldest turret (south turret).

If you come when it's raining, you can really feel the great atmosphere. If you like nature in the rain, make sure to visit on a rainy day. Especially around 5 to 6 PM when there are fewer people.

visiting Uwajima Castle during cherry blossoms season is worth it, one of the best castle in japan, the view from above was stunning, I tried to go inside of castle, first you need to pay 200 yen it's worth the price remember japan you need to try everything, inside there was a Samurai armour, a history of this place, an old castle built in century, you can take a picture inside, outside the castle you can see the cherry blossom tree, entrance there is a locker if you want to leave you things, just insert 100 yen and when you comeback you can take it again, I was amazed walking on top is not easy, but there is a two way going on top, the finished cement and the shortcut way but more difficult refreshing when you reach the castle, but remember to bring your water

Small castle set in beautiful grounds. The walk up to the keep is a little steep and uneven but it is absolutely gorgeous. The path takes you past the remains of impressive castle walls and bamboo groves and forest up to the keep which is set on a flat lawn (public grassy areas are a rare commodity in Japan) with good views over the city and port of Uwajima. The keep was already closed when I visited in the early evening, but the fact that it is one of Japan's remaining original castles probably makes it worth taking a look inside. The castle was originally located on the sea before land reclamation projects extended the coastline.
