Tenshaen Garden was highly praised for its unique scenery created by the structure of the pond, the stonework, and the structure that blocks the outside from the outside with evergreen trees, and was designated as a [Scenic Place] by the country in 1968.
The southeastern part of Hama Goten, which was created by the second lord of the domain, Munetoshi Date, was created by the seventh lord of the domain, Munenori Date, who transformed it into a place for him to retire. This is the Daimyo Garden.
Munenori, who was also a calligrapher, left behind many valuable books at the bookstore Harusutei in the park. He spent the rest of his life peacefully, reaching the age of 100 in 1898.
The highlights of Tenshaen are a variety of beautiful landscape stones, as well as seasonal plants such as bamboo, wisteria, and irises. However, what excites me the most is the huge number of carp in the pond! It is not a bright Nishikigoi, but a plain black carp with no color, but it is active and has a good appetite! I visited here in midsummer in August, which is probably the season when the carp become more active. When I scattered the carp food that I bought for 3 bags at the reception for 100 yen (very reasonable!), I was overwhelmed by the number of carp that crowded around me! ! ! Also, eh? Will pigeons also eat this food? When I put a few grains of bait in my palm and brought it closer, I said, ``Hi Pigeon!'' and wow! You ate it with your own hands. Impressed!
Admission fee is 500 yen. However, if you purchase a joint ticket with [Nanrakuen], it costs 550 yen. The entrance fee to Nanrakuen is 310 yen, so if you are planning to visit both places, a combined ticket is definitely a good deal.
