When you think of Mt. Iimori, you think of Byakkotai. The other one is Sazaedo. It is now a tourist destination. There is a plaza halfway up the hill, containing the graves of soldiers, which can be accessed by stairs or a slope (partway up). There are graves of soldiers, stone monuments, information boards, etc. The scenery was pretty good, but I couldn't see Tsuruga Castle because the trees were so overgrown. To see Tsuruga Castle, we recommend going to the place where Byakkotai committed suicide, which is a little further away. If you go this far, you can see a wide view of the town of Aizuwakamatsu.

Have fun climbing the slope to the top. The scenery is really nice. Although I knew the name of the Byakkotai, I didn't really understand it, so visiting them made me think about a lot of things.

I had fun on the slope conveyor. It has been several decades since I last visited Mt. Iimori, but it was perfect for sightseeing as it contained a variety of attractions such as the Byakko Taishi Memorial Monument, the place where he committed suicide, the Retirement Cave, Sazaedo Temple, etc. Even so, Aizuwakamatsu Castle is surprisingly far away, and you won't notice it unless you look closely. On the other hand, from Aizuwakamatsu Castle, I felt that Mt. Iimori was relatively close...

Byakkotai's last location Recommended as it has a panoramic view of Aizuwakamatsu and includes Sazaedo and Byakkotai cemetery.

A mountain with an altitude of 314 meters located slightly east of the center of Aizuwakamatsu City, Fukushima Prefecture. The name comes from the shape of this mountain, which resembles a bowl of rice. This is a sightseeing spot related to the Byakkotai. From the moving slope, we visited Sazaedo, the place where Byakkotai committed suicide. It's a good place.
