A stone-paved area filled with cafes, bars, and other restaurants that have been renovated from old warehouses and traditional houses. Even if you visit during the day on a weekday, most of the shops are closed and there isn't much to see. The only coffee shop that was open had a strange atmosphere with lots of candy and other items on display, so it seems people will either like it or hate it. Looking at other posted photos, it seems that the atmosphere changes depending on the season, such as cherry blossoms, autumn leaves, and snowfall, so you might see a different face if you visit in a different season. There is no place to hide from the sun during the extremely hot days, so a parasol is essential.

An area lined with white-walled storehouses near Soja Daijingu Shrine. Currently, the warehouse has been renovated and is now used as a restaurant, tavern, and coffee shop. It is a well-maintained and beautiful street. I cooled down a bit at a coffee shop.

Visited on June 3, 2024. The rows of white-walled storehouses look impressive, but they are small in scale. For example, if you compare it with the famous Bikan Historical Quarter in Kurashiki City, Okayama Prefecture, it will become a blur. I went on a weekday afternoon, and it was deserted with only one coffee shop open. When I asked the locals, they told me that there are many bars and drinking establishments, so I think the atmosphere is different at night. I only stopped by for a short while because my goal was to visit Soja Daijingu Shrine, which is just ahead, but I think it's a good place to take a stroll.

Although it is a small area, it is a beautifully organized corner, so you will feel like enjoying the atmosphere quietly with a cup of coffee.Murasaki Shikibu also lived in Echizen, where he lived away from the capital once in his life, and is surrounded by Japanese paper, magnificent nature and culture, and the Tale of Genji. It is said that it helped him write.

A stylish area that you cannot miss when taking a walk in front of Takefu Station. The streets with white-walled buildings are lovely.
