I walked along the ``Shinjumichi''. Shinjumichi is an important historical street that starts near Shureimon. It crosses Kinjo Town in Shuri, passes by the mouth of the Kokuba River, and continues to Kakihana on the south bank of Naha Port. The name comes from its appearance, which was carefully paved with Ryukyu limestone blocks placed closely together, and was sparkling white when it was built in 1522.

The Pearl Road has been selected as one of Japan's top 100 roads. Although it is called a road, there are cobblestone stairs, so it is quite difficult to go up and down, and there are many slopes, so shoes that are difficult to walk on, such as heels, are not suitable. You need to be careful on rainy days, but it is very atmospheric and makes you feel like you have wandered into a foreign country. You can go straight to Shuri Castle from Kinjo Town, so you can enjoy the scenery while taking a leisurely stroll.

It is the closest spot to Shuri Castle and is a sight of cobblestones that you often see in guidebooks. It is a place where even group travelers can rush to see it and take commemorative photos.

A cobblestone slope in a residential area. Great scenery for tourists. You can enjoy the surrounding houses and distant scenery while being careful where you step. However, the people who live here have to climb up and down the cobblestone steps in their daily lives. Tourist noise 👂⚡. I thought it would be difficult as I got older.

A cobblestone road with the words "Shinjumichi" written on it. It's quite a steep slope, so it might be difficult for people with weak legs, those in heels, or on rainy days. It is along a residential area, so we recommend walking quietly. Good for a walk.
