On April 9, 2024, my wife and I took a paid lift yen 570 each down to see next to nil waterfall. As we didn’t have any expectation, we weren’t very disappointed. I enjoyed the experience though as the last time I came, I was travelling solo.

An impressive waterfall equipped with an elevator that descends 100 meters to the base for a better viewing experience. The sight is truly extraordinary and spectacular, making it a must-see attraction for visitors exploring Nikko.

Visiting the Kegon Falls paid viewing deck in Nikko is a breathtaking experience that immerses you in the heart of nature's splendor. As you step onto the deck, the thundering cascade of water plunging 97 meters down the rugged cliffs captivates your senses. The lush greenery surrounding the falls creates a stunning contrast, and on sunny days, a shimmering rainbow often graces the misty air, adding a magical touch. The vantage point offers unparalleled views, allowing you to capture incredible photographs and bask in the serene beauty of the scene. The sound of the waterfall, combined with the fresh forest air, provides a sense of tranquility and awe. An elevator ride to the base of the falls intensifies the experience, where the cool mist and the powerful roar of the water make you feel profoundly connected to nature's raw power. Kegon Falls in Nikko is not just a sight but an experience that leaves you with lasting memories of Japan’s natural beauty and serenity.

Worth the 570 yen price to go down the elevator. There's a much better view of the kegon falls as well as being able to see the downstream waterfalls which were really nice as well. If you do not want to spend the money, theres a free observation deck to the right of the ticketing booth.

The observation deck is located at the top of the falls, and it can be accessed by hiking along a well-maintained trail or by taking an elevator. The hike is not too difficult, even for people with less experience. The trail offers beautiful views of the surrounding forest and the Nikko National Park. The observation deck is also equipped with a telescope that allows visitors to get an even closer look at the waterfall. It's a great way to get a different perspective of the falls and to appreciate the magnitude of this natural wonder.
