A must have if you're close to Nobeoka or Miyazaki. If you go by bus, one goes from Nobeoka Station (left when you leave the station, 7th --> 行縢登山口行). The fall's really REALLY beautifull and the hike allows to admire a lot of really nice sceneries. Beware of leeches though : seen a lot T.T If you wanna go through the Kenmin no mori path (県民の森), you'll have to take a lot of breaks to search for your way : no indications at all except for the pink 'flags, which are somewhat hidden everywhere around the hiking trail (which is not really a trail for what it matters ^^'). Did all the possible paths, was very nice with good weather (and may be very slippery with rain, take care !)

If you visit on sunny day, you will see great two peaks, male and female peak, and waterfalls between in those. This area was certified as a "UNESCO echo park" in 2017, especially this mountain is categorised to buffer area. You can reach to the basin of a waterfall in 30 min from closest car park, 45 min from bus station. About 2 hour climing to the summit with nomal route. No need special tools for climb, better to wear sporty ware and shoes for hiking, and no restaurant and shop around, so better to ready before visit. Famous local beer brewarry is available near by here "Hideji-Beer", can taste it if you purchae. public bus is available bound for Mukabaki bus number "". Nobeoka -> Mukabaki 09:00 -> 9:28 13:30 -> 13:58 *Available only weekday 15:35 -> 16:03 Mukabaki -> Nobeoka 07:00 -> 07:28 *Available only weekday 09:30 -> 09:58 16:10 -> 16:38 17:10 -> 17:38

Tough Hike to the very top but so pretty!!! as long as you're not afraid of heights. Took a total of 3 1/2 hours. I ran part of it though

I suddenly thought of going to Gyōhei Falls! Ever since I went on a field trip in elementary school (50 years ago f^_^;) It's not a hike, it's a solid climb. It says it takes 30 minutes to get to the waterfall, but in summer you should make sure to stay hydrated and take breaks, so it's better to give yourself a little more time. The waterfall seems to be located halfway up Mt. Gyohei, but this time I didn't come properly prepared, so I gave up around the 4th station. I was sweating a lot, so I thought it would be better not to overdo it on my own, so I gave up. I think I'll try it again.
