Parking is paid through a machine. It was drizzling but we went ahead anyway since we were here. Lake is just a 3min walk from the car park. The lake is visibly blue despite the weather, but do beware that the path is muddy when wet. It was quite crowded but since the path along the lake was quite long, it wasn't hard to find pockets of space to take nice pictures of the lake. They do sell some blue drinks and ice cream at the area, but it's just a standalone store with no seating. We didn't get any (looked quite gimmicky) but I guess it might have been a nice photo op during better weather.

It was lovely to finally see this beautiful ‘blue pond’ that is so highly photographed. Unfortunately there is a lot of tourists and bus loads of them. However I think it was still worth the visit as it is quite pretty. The drive to the place is such a scenic and gorgeous 360 deg views around us.

Great place to visit if you are driving around. The blue water surrounded by birch and spruce trees is stunning. You don’t need much time here though as there is nothing else and when you time it badly you run the risk of sharing your experience with 3 bus loads of touristy (as we did). So I suggest to do this as a quick stop on your way somewhere else. If the weather is right you’ll get some amazing shots.

Beautiful place. Parking is 500 yen for a simple car and 2000 something for a bigger bus. It gets packed but still manageable. The blue color of the water is given by aluminum reacting with the fresh river water - quite impressive!

It was great to see finally the blue pond, and we were lucky to have a clear sunny day, which reflects the water and makes the blue tone to look stronger. Apart from the pond there’s nothing else to see, so you can stroll around for some minutes and that’s it.
