It was in a quiet location, and the breeze was cool. It was fun to talk with Mr. Toyota who worked on this bridge. There seems to be a shrine just across the bridge. If you come this far, you should stop by.

When you visit the Shimanto River, you can see many submerged bridges, but the original one? Bridges like this used to be found everywhere in the countryside, but these days you rarely see them. As I walked on Ipponbashi Bridge, I felt like I was being sucked into the river for some reason, even though I was filming a video on the way there. On the way back, I crossed the bridge normally without taking any photos, but it's no big deal since it's wider than the log bridge I crossed when I was a kid. I think this is the most memorable bridge in Kochi.

The scenery of the bridge, which is just three wooden boards spanning the clear stream, is wonderful and soothing. The wooden board is approximately 9 meters long, 60 centimeters wide, and 30 centimeters thick. It is on the way from Kochi City to Forest Adventure Kochi in Tsuno Town and Shikoku Karst, so we recommend stopping by.

It is said to be the prototype of a submerged bridge. When the water rises, the three bridge girders are designed to be temporarily washed away, but because they are connected by chains, when the water recedes, they can be returned to their original position and allowed to cross. The day I went was the day after a flood warning was issued, so I was scared to cross the water due to rising water. When I stepped on the bridge girder, the entire surface of the water was undulating, creating an illusion. It is better not to cross when the water is high.

Anyway, the scenery including the flowing water and the surrounding grass is amazing and beautiful! There is a bridge made of three large trees lined up in order, and you can actually cross it. If you look closely while crossing, you can see the shadows of small sweetfish swimming in clusters. (When they get big, they fight over territory, so they don't form in clumps.) A gap where such a tranquil bridge is right next to the road! You can feel the high level of awareness of local people to protect the environment. It is the prototype of the famous submerged bridge, and the more rustic scenery is worth seeing and recommended.
