A great historical place in Morioka. Takuboku Honeymoon house is where poet Takuboku Ishikawa lived after getting married. It's the only samurai house left in Morioka. He was one of the first poets of the Meiji Era. His first publication was at age 13. He went on to publish more material in his shirt life, sadly, he died at age 26 if tuberculosis

This was the house of one of Morioka's great poets, Takuboku. For me the best part about the house was its peaceful atmosphere. It is located in a quiet neighborhood, and when I visited, there were not many people. So I felt I could have the house all to myself. The house has few rooms and aged informational displays (all in Japanese). So it doesn't take very long to see. The condition of the house seems so-so, but seeing it in this condition helped me feel its true age.

The staff was very kind. The museum is free and you need to take off your shoes. It takes about 10 minutes to go through.

Although I didn't notice it, the map given at the bus station didn't indicate "Tuesday" as the museum is closed. When I got to the door, I looked at Google maps and found out!

15 minutes walk from Morioka Station. There are many parking lots nearby. A place that is difficult to get to. Takuboku's materials are extensive. You can clearly understand what life was like back then. I learned of an episode where Takuboku left his bride waiting and skipped the wedding.
