This bridge was opened in 1999 as a bridge connecting Nagoya Railway (Meitetsu) Toyota City Station and Toyota Stadium (crossing the Yahagi River). The design was by Kisho Kurokawa (1934-2007, one of Japan's leading architects), and the structure is a basket-handle Nielsen-Rohse girder bridge. . The bridge has an innovative design reminiscent of dinosaur bones, and you can descend to the riverbed from the piers on both banks. [Toyota Stadium] This stadium is located in Toyota Central Park in Toyota City, Aichi Prefecture, and is dedicated to soccer, rugby, and other ball sports (there is no track and field track). Construction began in 1997, was completed on June 25, 2001, and began use on July 21, 2001. The stadium has two floors underground and four floors above ground, and has a total capacity of 44,380 seats (all seats are individual seats): 12,045 seats in the main stand, 14,632 seats in the back stands, and 17,703 seats in the side stands. The ``Toyota'' in Toyota Stadium is the ``Toyota'' in Toyota City, and is unrelated to Toyota Motor Corporation's ``TOYOTA.''
