The easy trail goes along streams with many small waterfalls. It took about 1 hour to go up from the parking lot. I could get back in 3 hours, before lunchtime in a weekday. There is a nice view of Mt Tsukuba, and many places for rest on the way. It was cool.
Thanks to mountain lovers, the summit of Mt. Komachi has plenty of chairs and tables, so you can have a fun lunch or a break while looking out at Mt. Tsukuba and Mt. Fuji. Komachi no Yakata: It takes about an hour to climb from the free parking lot. It is also conveniently accessible from the Asahi Pass Observation Deck parking lot and Mt. Takarako. There is also a paragliding flight zone and an observation spot called "Mogu Mogu Dokoro" near the top of the mountain where you can take a break while looking out at Lake Kasumigaura.
After climbing Otokozaka for about an hour from Komachi-no-Yakata, Mt. Tsukuba is right in front of you.
The summit is spacious and has multiple sets of tables and benches.
Great for your break or lunch time

This time I walked Mt. Komachi from the Milky Way route.
After that, walk to Kengamine via Onogoshi Pass.
Komachiyama (361 meters above sea level) in Ono, Tsuchiura City has a legend about Ono Komachi, a poet from the Heian period. It seems that the local volunteer ``Komachi Satoyama Enthusiast'' spent about a year clearing up this Satoyama and creating a full-fledged hiking course. Akira Saito (75), the president of the club, said, ``I hope more courses will be developed and more people will come to visit.''
Many legends remain in the Ono area, including the mountain pass that Komachi Ono is said to have crossed and the Olympic Tower, which is said to be her grave, and in 1997, the tourist facility ``Komachi no Yakata'' was opened.
Near Mt. Komachi is Mt. Hokyo, which rose from an unknown mountain to a popular one. Mt. Takarako was in disrepair until about 15 years ago, but it is said that the members of the enthusiast group were the ones who renovated it. Now that mountain trails have been developed, more than 100,000 people visit the mountain each year, and the parking lot fills up on weekends.
Komachiyama was originally an unnamed village forest, but a group of about 10 people started developing it last March and named it after the area.
The members of the club used chainsaws and sickles to carve out a mountain trail through a thicket of vegetation. We also built signs and benches for people to rest. As we proceeded with the maintenance, we also discovered huge rocks, strangely shaped rocks, and wild cherry blossoms. Looking back, Kiyoshi Seki, a member of the club, said, ``It's said to be hard work, but we were able to make it this far because we had fun.''
Finally, three hiking courses have been completed, including the ``Ama no Kawasawa Course'' and the ``One Course,'' and you can now enjoy a 2-3 hour round trip hike of about 3 kilometers, overlooking Lake Kasumigaura from the summit.
I am grateful to the people who helped with the maintenance, allowing me to climb safely and securely.

As it is a popular mountain, the parking lot was full. I think it is best to arrive early on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays. It was a course that was easy for beginners to climb, and it felt like it was somewhere between Mt. Tsukuba and Mt. Hoko. I chose the Amanogawazawa course for the climb and the Asahi Pass hiking course for the descent, but I wonder if the reverse would be fun as well? I thought so too! It felt so good to be able to walk while listening to the murmuring sound!
