Of historic importance with a little to see.

Although it is an unassuming place surrounded by residential areas, it is a valuable place that still retains the original appearance of Kawagoe Castle. As for my personal memories, when I was attending a nearby high school, I came here when I was skipping class and wandering outside. So it's something I have some feelings about.

This is the only remaining moat of Kawagoe Castle. The moat is quite deep, so you can imagine how huge Kawagoe Castle is. Apart from Honmaru Palace, it was nice to be able to see the huge moat.

If you head towards Kawagoe Castle and Kashiya Yokocho from the free tourist parking lot, you will see it on your left. I think that it is a valuable moat ruin, although only a portion of it remains.

Although it is huge, a moat remains within the residential area. The slope of the moat on the side of the main shrine has a certain charm. Since the Meiji period, many of the facilities and buildings at Kawagoe Castle have been demolished, but the Nakanomon moat ruins are the only moat remains within the old castle grounds. Therefore, it is very valuable. It's located near City Hall, so please stop by at least once. I took this photo in the summer, but unfortunately the grass had grown longer than I expected, so I couldn't see to the bottom of the moat. We recommend shooting in autumn or winter. I really wanted to take a photo that showed the bottom of the moat, so I actually visited it at the end of October. I could clearly see the bottom of the moat.
