Geibikei Gorge

AMAZING boat ride. Easy to find from the train station. Staff is all Japanese but they are really nice to foreign visitors. It’s okay to eat and drink on the little boat in fact they have vendors for that purpose. I got a big cucumber and it was great. The boatmen and women are all cool, they sang a song during our ride and it was really fun! Highly recommend!

One of the best experiences in our Japan trip. Y1800 per person and TOTALLY WORTH IT. You will sit on a boat and they will bring you around the rock formations - traditional boat poling style. On the way back, they will sing a traditional Japanese "shanty" of sorts to create the atmosphere. Went during summer where the mist covers the top of the river so it has a nice vibe to it. One important thing to take note - they have HOURLY boat rides (leaves at the hour). We wanted to come at 2.15pm but we missed the 2pm ride. So plan on timing well before arriving.

best ever overall experience boat ride in japan for me. the operator is very friendly and funny. he makes us happy entire boat trip. i hope to see him again in autumn

Geibikei Gorge in Iwate Prefecture, Japan. We rode in their traditional flat-bottomed boat ride. It is a stunning 2-kilometer river valley and take approximately 90 minutes journey. Through the ride you will see a lot of towering cliffs and some of it has human face and the boats are guided by boatmen who use long poles to navigate the river. It's so peaceful during the ride and at the same time enjoying the stunning scenery. Our boatman can sing so well, in their traditional songs, enhancing the cultural experience.

The natural scenery is extremely peaceful, beautiful and clean. Food: There are pineapples and sweet fruits baked with local candies&cake Buy ticket for boat. There are fish food 50c/small bag. Wait until you get close to the sightseeing station (when the boat stops) to feed them because there are big, healthy-eating fish therể. You have 20 to 25m for go around then comback.
