We recently took the Shogawa Yuran Ferry ride in Tonami, Toyama for an hour and it was a truly magical experience. The scenery along the Shogawa River was breathtaking, with lush greenery and picturesque views at every turn. The gentle breeze and soothing sound of the water made for a relaxing and peaceful journey. The hour-long ride was the perfect amount of time to soak in the beauty of the surroundings and unwind from the hustle and bustle of daily life. The staff on the ferry were friendly and knowledgeable, providing interesting insights about the area. I highly recommend the Shogawa Yuran Ferry ride to anyone looking for a serene and memorable way to explore the natural beauty of Japan. A must-do experience!

We visited in December 2023, and the atmosphere while cruising along the river was great. One disappointment is no snow around riverside. I hope to come back again on full winter season.

27.03.2023 Shogawa River cruise ride. Snow on the alps and mountains are lesser. It would be nicer view to see more of the snow. Still a nice experience taking the cruise with such beautiful views. Very strong cold wind sitting on the top with no windows for naked beauty views.

Highly highly recommend this! We went in Winter, on 7/Feb/2023 and it was great! A bit nippy due to the wind, but if you're wearing your usual winter puffer/coat you will be fine. You can stay inside the boat cabin which is nice and toasty, but the best views are outside. You can also go up the stairs and view the scenery from the top floor deck. It wasn't snowing when we went but was still lovely! The length of the ride is just right, about 30min each way. Enough time to get all the photos and videos you want, and then relax and soak in the magical view. There are two beautiful red bridges to pass by on the trip, the second one being more vibrant red. The boat turns around when it gets to the tucked away Onsen Ryokan. We got on the 11:30am ride and it wasn't packed, about 10 other people on the boat with us. Employees are very polite, and even gave us a little postcard pack to take home with us as a souvenier. We bought the tickets when we arrived at the location. We hired a car to get here, highly recommended over our previous plan to get a bus out here which would take much longer with stops on the way. You can make pit stops whereever you want too and admire the winter scenery.

As others have mentioned, it's not the easiest place for tourists to access by transport, but definitely worth the effort. We took a bus from Kanazawa station to Inami, and then caught a Taxi from Inami to where the boat departs, approx 10 mins and a 2500 Yen taxi fare. We opted to do the 1 hour 11.30am cruise. There were only about 6 people on the boat so plenty of space. In comparison the 10.20am short pleasure cruise boat was completely full. The view from the top deck was great.
