Kagoshima City Aquarium

A lovely spot to visit, especially on a rainy day. It features many stunning jellyfish and cute sea creatures. While the aquarium isn’t very large, it offers plenty of parking and is definitely worth a visit. I recommend spending roughly 1.5 hours here to enjoy the colorful displays and the peaceful atmosphere!

The best dolphin show aquarium so far! The dolphins here have access to swim back into the bay area to enjoy wild life. I guess this makes them happier and smarter. The resting area has a significant window view of Sakura Island volcano. Good place to visit for a family trip.

So happy we came just in time to watch the dolphin show! I absolutely loved it!! Maybe the aquarium is not that big but it has a nice vibe, and it is immaculately clean so that the glass looks invisible. It was a very pleasant experience. I'd go there again just for dolphins ^^

Been to a few aquarium in Japan. This one is not as big but it’s definitely the least crowded. You can enjoy the aquarium in peace. They also play a nice soothing music which makes it very relaxing. There’s a viewing deck at the higher floor to view Sakurajima. Remember to check out the dolphin show time at ground floor on the right side of the souvenir shop. The dolphin pool is connected to the public waterway outside the aquarium so you can see them playing there as well.

The aquariums that we have had the opportunity to visit - across Japan - are always beautiful and very well thought out. The aquarium in Kagoshima is one of the smaller ones and therefore less visited, so you can see everything very well and in peace, especially if you come 1.5 - 1 hour before closing time. We stopped at the aquarium on the way from Sakurajima and were almost alone there. Clear glasses allow you to take beautiful photos.
