What a gorgeous view on volcano and city! Going up may be a bit of a physical effort but the way is not that long. The forest is quiet and peaceful. Plenty of benches and vending machines with drinks. Also there is a lil nice shop on the top where we bought a few cool souvenirs and an ice cream.

Family trip to a beautiful view. If you're going to spend time in Kagoshima on a hot summer day, this viewpoint is a good tip. You can get to the top by city bus, but you can also stretch your body and legs by climbing a lot of stairs. Like we did. The view of the city and Sakurajima is breathtaking, and above all, we can walk through the huge cool park and spend quiet moments under the crowns of mature trees.

Best view of the Kagoshima city and Sakurajima! ~5 minutes of easy walk to get here from where you get off the bus/ car park. There’s a free car park nearby. Be careful if you’re driving up from Ishiki Street side, as the road is pretty steep and narrow with tight corners. Sometimes the traffic could be high.

Beautiful view, definitely worth the hike up! There were two wonderful volunteers at the observation deck, providing information to visitors and helping to take photos. I want to especially thank them for their service!

If you have mobility issues it’s best you drive or take the bus/taxi to the parking lot. We hiked up many stairs from the residential area and I cannot say it was easy. Parts of the stairs were steep. If you plan to take the stairs you should dress appropriately. At the viewing point, there are lots of overgrown trees so you cannot get a full open view but it was still beautiful. The day we went was extremely windy and the little shops by the parking lot were closed.
