Shiga Prefecture's largest shrine, Japan's oldest book, the Kojiki, describes these two great deities as husband and wife for the first time in the ancient times, and that they spread over the land of Japan, followed by eight hundred gods, including Amaterasu Omikami. Due to the success of Ise's Okage Yokocho, temple towns all over the country have been designed to appeal to tourists, and here too, the beautiful, unified streetscape continues for about 100 meters. Itokirimochi is famous, so you can eat in here and enjoy it.
