The observatory is a deck on top of the Lake Mashu visitor center and a further deck at the top end of the car park. The visitor center contains a souvenir shop, cafe and toilets. It costs ยฅ500 to park, but the ticket will also cover parking at Mt.Io on the same day. The top deck has seating. The entrance for the Mt.Mashu hike is at the bottom end of the carpark near the 24 hour toilets.

ยฅ500 parking, but you can use the same parking ticket for Mount Io down the road. The observatory is a good view point of the amazing lake Mashu as well. Toilet available at the car park.

I recently visited Lake Mashu and was lucky enough to see it without any fog. The view was absolutely stunning! And I even spotted a couple of ezo deers on the slope. For anyone planning to visit, be sure to bring sunglasses during sunny days to protect your eyes and dress warmly as it can be very windy. Plenty of car parking spaces are available. Highly recommend visiting on sunny days, as I've heard that Lake Mashu is often covered in fog. Donโ€™t forget to visit the souvenir shop for delicious snacks as well.

Great interesting place in Hokkaido Japan. Great views if there are no clouds.
