Marine Port Park

Clean port indeed! There are English maps that they are handling out on the information. We also had a chance to bump some highschoolers who sells matcha mochi and were so nice! I think they are also filming it for their local tv station. I’d say there was a language barrier at first but some of the students speak good English so when they ask us to try, we did not hesitate to do so! We didn’t try to take cab going to attractions (even though we carry 2 big luggage), as there were long lines coming from Cruise passengers. We walked from Port to the nearest JR line (going to Chuo Station), it took us a good 1 hr & 10 mins on walk. A good view of steaming Sakurajima and beautiful flowers!

It was a perfect location for our cruise ship with transportation right outside the port. We had a good day with a good information center in the terminal.

Beautiful well kept port/terminal with lots of open space. A great place to relax, exercise, picnic, etc.

If arriving by sea then there is a magical view of the volcano. There is a neat little park as you get off the ship. Lots of happy people walking their dogs. Lovely terminal and Port.
