If you go down along the river from Senga Falls, you will see Kakuenbo rising on the opposite bank of Sekimon. It's so far away that it hurts your neck to look up, so please be aware of your surroundings.

The most representative of Shosenkyo is Kakuen-mine. The granite rock that has been eroded by wind and rain over many years is about 180 meters high, making it a scenic spot that will make you feel the awe of nature. The origin of the name is amazing, but apparently it was named after Kakuen, a monk who practiced on this peak. He's an amazing person... Kakuenmine is also a scenic spot that was awarded first place in the valley section of the National Top 100 Sightseeing Spots and second place in the Heisei 100 Views.

The symbol mark of Shosenkyo is Kakuenbo. It is said that Zen Master Kakuen climbed here to practice. I thought it clearly looked like Zen Master Kakuen, but I was wrong. It is an elegant peak with a steep white rock surface. However, there is no doubt that there are quite a few obstacles to getting here! Ordinary people like me can only look up from below. Across the Arakawa River is Tengu Rock.

You can see it for a moment from the road, but you can enjoy this spectacular view from the promenade! I'm so sorry to hear that you chose this beautiful natural beauty as your training ground! I would like you to experience this wonderfulness with your own eyes, not on a screen.

It is an obelisk-like figure in Shosenkyo, and is made of the same granite as the surrounding mountains, Mt. Kinpu and Mt. Mizugaki. When you look up from the riverside, it looks like a stone pagoda, but there is a mountain trail that almost no one takes, and although it is steep, it seems that you can reach the top where Zen Master Kakuen trained. It is said that you can also reach Mt. Yasaburo from the Ropeway Summit/Panoramadai Station along the ridge via Mt. Yasaburo (Mt. Rakanji), but tourists generally stop at Mt. Yasaburo. Perhaps it would be better to leave the journey to the top of the mountain to monks, tengu, or hermits, and enjoy looking up at it throughout the four seasons.
