This place is outstanding. Nature cannot be more perfect. The hike is strenuous and could be very intense for beginners. The views might be worth it.

Amazing place to hike. A little bit difficult at the end so take good shoes with you. I do not recommend it during winter because it is very slippery there. Hike takes around 2h to complete (up the top). The best access in case you don't have a car is by train to Ibusuki station and by local bus from there to Kaimon station. (540Yen for the bus).

Beautiful volcano, both to look at from a distance and to climb. One of my favourite mountains in Kyushu
