A small well that you can visit after paying the 500yen entry fee. We visited during the early morning so it is not full of people yet.

Similar to the review left by Dominik, I was curious to check out the small photo exhibition booth next to ticketing counter to find out what this attraction is about. Then this old Japanese male staff abruptly rushed over and patted on my arm from my back, rudely gestured and stopped me from moving forward. Seriously was that necessary? I wasn’t even trying to sneak in. Anyway after checking reviews it isn’t much unless you had free time and yen to spare. Over reaction from the staff like it’s some absolute wonder that warrants a strict entry fee.

Walked up to see the photos they had posted beside the entrance booth to see what exactly we had to pay ¥500 yen for before going in, I was about 2 steps away from the entrance booth when the old Japanese man started screaming “NO! NO! NO!” and pointed to his ¥500 sign. When I told him I was just looking at the photos they had posted, he screamed NO again, acting as if I was trying to get in without paying lol. If you don’t want people looking at the photos, don’t post them beside the booth. And maybe don’t have an old grump working here who doesn’t speak English and clearly dislikes foreigners to collect money from them. Upon doing more research, we’re glad we didn’t pay the ¥500 just to go see a well in the ground. The rest of the shrine and park grounds are worth a visit though!

Originally famous from tv show that boast fame and wealth come from using this well as background. Very crowded in new year. As much as millions come here. Info... A well in a garden of Tokyo’s Meiji Shrine has drawn masses of visitors who believe it is a power spot where they can experience positive energy. Meiji Shirine is the largest Shinto shrine in Tokyo, dedicated to Emperor Meiji and his consort, Emperess Shoken, who passed away in 1912 & 1914 respectively. It was constructed just after the first world war. The Kiyomasa’s well ( Kiyomasa no Ido) is said to have been dug by famous feudal warlord Kato Kiyomasa
