I passed this “road” every time I went to school. Didn’t know it was a monument.
On some days, you can also see flocks of crows / murder hopping down the stairs.
If you’re lucky usually there’ll be a Golden Retriever named Fu-Chan.
He’s very friendly & definitely made my stay in Japan more memorable :)
Paved footpath stair, nothing special about it.

The area is known for its famous hot springs, and the clear waters of Kinryu, Tosa (Arisu), Masui, Yasui, Tamate, Kamei, and Osaka are called Tennoji's Seven Famous Waters.
A slope located on the north side of Mt. Arisu Kiyomizu Temple in Reijincho, Tennoji Ward, between Osaka Seiko Gakuin and Kiyomizu Temple. It forms part of Yokooji and Takeuchi Kaido (Japan's oldest national highway). One of the seven slopes of Tennoji. From the north, Shingonzaka, Genshojizaka, Kuchinawazaka, Aizenzaka, Tenjinzaka, and Osaka. There is also a slope called Gakuenzaka, but does it have a new history? Cars can drive eastbound on a one-way street. It is not included in Tennoji Nanazaka.
Tennoji Nanazaka is a series of seven slopes that climb from Matsuyamachi-suji to the west side of Noboriyamachi-suji from Tanimachi 9-chome to Tennoji. It has become a temple town for Osaka Castle.
This is Osaka Castle🏯, which stands at the northernmost tip of Kamimachi Plateau. If you go south along this Uemachi Plateau, you will end up at Shitennoji Temple, the head temple of the Japanese sect of Tennoji, and Yasui Shrine, the final resting place of Yukimura Sanada, who was active in the Osaka Summer Campaign. With the exception of Osaka, which is now a main road, the narrow cobblestone pavement and stone steps are impassable to cars, and the combination with the walls and stone walls on both sides is beautiful, making it a great spot for sketching and taking photos.
If you go up the same Kiyomizuzaka slope as Kiyomizu-dera in Kyoto, you will find Kiyomizu-dera. It is said that he invited the 11-faced Kannon from Kiyomizu-dera Temple in Kyoto. There are places with spring water, a stage for Kiyomizu-dera Temple, and a panoramic view of the castle town of Osaka Castle.
Kiyomizu-dera is a Japanese Buddhist temple located in Reijin-cho, Tennoji-ku, Osaka City. The principal image is the eleven-faced thousand-armed Kanzeon Bodhisattva, and it is a branch temple of Shitennoji, the head temple of the Japanese sect. The full name is Mt. Arisu Seikoin Kiyomizu-dera. It is registered as a religious corporation with Seikoin. It is also known for having Tamade Falls, which is said to be the only natural waterfall in Osaka city.
Access: Get off at JR/Subway Tennoji Station and walk for about 10 minutes.
This is Shimizuzaka in Osaka
Not the famous Kiyomizuzaka in Kyoto
Like Kyoto, it is pronounced ``Kiyomizu'' slope.
It got this name because Kiyomizu-dera in Osaka is located on the side of the hill.
At the top of the hill is the cemetery of Kiyomizu-dera Temple.
The west end of the cemetery is like an observation deck, and you can enjoy a wonderful view.
That is the stage of Kiyomizu-dera Temple.
If you go down this slope and turn to your left, you will see the temporary main hall of Kiyomizu-dera Temple and Tamade Falls behind it.
Do not miss it
Osaka has the image of being completely flat, but it actually has slopes that give it an atmosphere like this.
The area around Yuhigaoka along Tanimachisuji on Kamimachi Plateau has steep slopes continuing to the west, and there are many named slopes.
It is called "Nanasaka of Tennoji"
from the north
Shingonzaka
Genshojizaka
Kuchinawazaka
Aizenzaka
Kiyomizuzaka
Tenjinzaka
Osaka
There are many attractions around the slope, like Shimizu-zaka, and I don't think you can see all of them in one day.
Moreover, there is Ikunitama Shrine at the northern end, and Shitennoji and Isshinji at the southern end.
I think it would be more realistic to visit the area in two parts: the northern half and the southern half.
