From Nanasawa bus stop. There is no view, just a desk and a set of chairs. There are two benches at the shrine just below (with a weak view). We had lunch there (Marugame udon bento). There are several scenic spots along the way. I passed several climbers. 2024/5/12

You can reach the top of the mountain in just over an hour. Depending on the weather, it can get muddy and the slopes can be steep in many places, so trekking shoes are recommended. On the way up to the top, there are about 30 stone monuments that were built around the 4th year of Bunkyu. The stone steps near the top are quite worth seeing. If the weather is good, you can even see the Sky Tree from the top! ? That's right. Hmm, according to my eyesight... There is no need to worry about leeches around February. On the way back, I took the opposite route down from the top, but there was a chain link here. It's a short distance, but it's quite dangerous if you don't let your guard down.

A low mountain with an altitude of 561m that even beginners can easily climb. It is a mountain of ancient faith, with many stone monuments and Buddha statues. There is Sengen Shrine just below the summit. From spring to autumn, Yamabiru requires a lot of attention. It is read as ``Kanegatake'' or ``Kanegadake.'' This mountain has been a place of worship since ancient times, and there are many stone monuments of Buddhist statues left there, probably because it was a source of a stone called Nanasawa Stone. There is a hiking course that takes about an hour from the Kosakuji Onsen parking lot (free of charge) at the foot of the mountain, making it suitable for beginners and families with children. There is no view from the top of the mountain, but there are some viewing spots along the way, such as near Peeking Pine and Sengen Shrine. From the west side, there is also a route along the ridge toward Mt. Daisen, but this route is a little more minor and long, so it is recommended for experienced hikers. The one to watch out for is Yamabiru. It occurs in large numbers from spring to autumn. We recommend that you dress to avoid exposing too much skin and bring repellent and salt. (2023-08)

I started climbing around 12:30 on a Sunday in early November. I passed one person on the way up and one person on the way down. I enjoyed the tranquility. The path is well-trodden and there are no places to get lost, making it a very good hiking course. The view from the top of the mountain is not great, but there are several spots along the way with great views that are a feast for the eyes. The gentle ridgeline was especially pleasant. Also, there were no leeches. There were a lot of fallen leaves, and there were some dark roads in the cedar and cypress forests, so I guess it would be there in the summer. By the way, Kanegatake is said to be the highest mountain in Atsugi City. It is said that the name comes from the legend that a bell brought from Ryugu Castle was buried there.

The mountaintop just above Sengen Shrine. There is a bench where you can take a break, but there is almost no view. If you descend from here towards Yamakami, you need to be careful as the slope is quite steep.
