In order to avoid the congestion during the Golden Week, I took a seemingly empty route and ended up in the quiet Hirafuku post town, not knowing that there was Sayoyama Castle floating in the morning mist. Encouraged by my dog, I took a leisurely stroll along the Sayo River...through the ruins of Hirafuku Honjin and the quaint streets of Hirafuku Castle Town.

You can see the ruins of Rigami Castle from the townscape that stretches for about 1km. The white-walled river mansions, storehouses, and rows of warehouse-style houses are a charming sight. It is a unique townscape where you can enjoy a quiet time while strolling and feel at ease. Walking along the riverside promenade, the sound of the river's murmur is soothing and soothing. The cute trains entering the station are also a picturesque sight.

I had some business to do in Sayo Town, so I visited. I felt that it was a nice city with remnants of the highways everywhere.

I thought it was a very unique cityscape. It felt like the atmosphere of the post town remained somewhat. There were places like [Soba Restaurant (Uryu Gen)], [Hirafuku Local Museum], and [Rishikami Castle Ruins] in Yamashiro, which you cannot climb unless you make a reservation with a volunteer. The stone walls of the Rigami Castle ruins remain all the way to the foot of the mountain, and you can see them up close. Personally, I liked the view of the railroad tracks and the Hirafuku cityscape from the stairs of Sujin Shrine next to Komyoji Temple. The weather was nice and I was able to relax 😌

Stroll through the mansions and storehouses along the old highway. I felt the atmosphere, including the scenery reflected on the surface of the Sayo River. The ruins of Rigami Castle were viewed from the observation deck of the roadside station. From time to time, I could see single-car trains passing by on the Chizu Line, which also had a nostalgic atmosphere. I think it's the perfect place to take a walk and think about the history of the post town.
