It's been about 10 years since my last visit. On the day I visited, admission was free. So it was quite crowded. -------------- One of Sannai-Maruyama's most famous structures is a reconstruction of a large six-pillared building, was originally built around 2,600 BC. This structure consisted of six large chestnut pillars that are believed to have held a series of platforms.

You can easily spend even 5 hours there😆 There is the permanent exhibition, special exhibition (although nothing was translated into English there...), workshops (magatama, dogū, koshihimo...), the outside open air museum. You can also watch a short video and eat in a restaurant. You can borrow old jomon clothes and walk around in them for free. There are stamps (4) near the entrance, but on 2 different sides, so be careful!

Spectacular archeological site with thousands of exceptionally displayed artifacts and a fascinating reconstructed village site based on the on-location finds. Main movie doesn’t have subtitles, however a small kiosk video player near the museum shop has English option and is worth watching prior to visiting the outdoor village. Civilization 3,900-2,200 BC

Recommended to archeology enthusiasts. Aomori is a low populated area but the museum is on high national standards. I like every representation. Public bus is infrequent, plan ahead.

The open field museum with the historical architecture. I went there on summer, so it’s quite hot for the open field, recommended to go on spring or autumn. Rather than the open field, I also experienced making mini sculpture in the workshop , which I spend around 1 hours and pay around 500 yen. The best experience I’ve ever got. But the staff speaks only Japanese, so it might be not so convenient for foreigners. The admission fee is 410 yen. You also can enjoy chestnut ice cream in the cafeteria in the museum.
