Very impressed by Morioka in general, but especially by this site. Although they do not have a physical castle anymore, you can relive the past in their museum. The site itself is well maintained, and they are currently investing in rebuilding some of the areas. Today, there were no more cherry blossom trees in bloom on the top level. The wind has sadly blown all their petals off onto the ground. On the lower levels, however, the weeping sakura are in bloom and some pink ones as well. The little stream running through the park is such a tranquil addition. You can cross it via the bridge, or via the stone path. And for the PokemonGo players out there; lots of spinning signs, pokemon and gyms in this area. I spent a total of 2 hours here roaming around, enjoying the sights and taking pictures.

Gorgeous castle ruin and grounds. Nice trails in the area as well. I jogged the grounds on a rainy weekday and had the place to myself. Gravel trails mostly

You won't find an actual castle here. There are a few monuments (including a totem pole from Victoria BC) and a couple of friendly stray cats. What you see around the park are the castle fortress fortifications. Check out the first floor of the museum nearby too! Highly recommend coming here. One of the stray cats became our tour guide!

A tranquil spot in the midst of Morioka City to unwind, have a picnic or simply just read a book. The mountain ridge in the background provides a stunning backdrop to enjoy the sunset. Or follow the small creek that winds through the park for a quiet saunter.

This is a great place to see the castle nestled with a lot of Cherry Blossom trees.
