2024.04.07 The name comes from Genshoji Temple, which is one of the seven slopes of Tennoji and is located at the entrance. The 120m long slope has cobblestone pavement that curves left and right, giving it an elegant feel, and we recommend going down as the scenery from the top is richly varied. I heard that in the past, there was no road connecting the upper and lower parts of Kamimachi Plateau, so the seven slopes were built. It is said that Genshoji Temple also donated the land for the temple and turned it into a slope.

There is a story about Konnyaku Hachibei on this slope, and there are two that look like it in the shadows of the trees in the image from that day (I was mistaken), and I wonder if Hachibei had a child? It's a hill that gives you that feeling. Many people pass by here. On this day alone, there were people like school teachers, people who work at select shops, and ordinary people. There are houses on the top of the hill. It is a long slope with cobblestone pavement leading to stone steps. The reuse of the stones from the streetcar is the wisdom of our ancestors.

This is the only slope among Tennoji Nanazaka where you cannot see the top and bottom of the slope. I think it's the most beautiful of the seven slopes in terms of shape, but I can't say it's the best in terms of style. Depending on how you think about it, you can feel the atmosphere of a temple at the bottom of the hill, and as you go around the curve, houses appear and you get a sense of life, such as bicycles, and when you reach the top, you see a group of fashion hotels, and as you get closer to human instincts, it feels like something like Buddha. It may be a slope that connects animals.

Tennoji Nanazaka are seven slopes with historical value located on the west side of Uemachi Plateau in the center of Osaka City. Genshojizaka is the second slope from the north, and its name comes from the temple at the top of the slope. After passing the cobblestone slope, the stone stairs extend in an S-shape, so you cannot see the entire slope from the top of the slope. If you look down (west) from the middle of the hill, you'll see a high-rise apartment building a little ahead, and if you look up (east), you'll see the large Gintama love hotel that is impressive. When I visited, I was very disappointed to see that there were several bicycles abandoned along the way, even though it was such a picturesque slope. When accessing from the Matsuyamachi-suji side, there is a stone monument and a guide board, so you can easily find it, but if you are going from the Tanimachi-suji side, there is no guide board, so use the udon shop with the yellow sign "Taniku Furusato" as your landmark. It's best to go west.
